Junior final for Devon at St Lukes School & College in Exeter (March 5th 2011):
Our team from Bolham was there early with a pack of parents to support them plus their headmistress Laura Austen and their teacher/trainer Mr Perry. First on was Exeter Junior School who won the event with a talk about "A Young Person's perspective on censorship". Then we listened to Kentisbeare C of E school talking about "Getting to and from School". Our team from Bolham had drawn third place and Alexandra Mobbs talked about her passion for running with the title "Running as a Sport". Finally there was an hilarious talk from the Grove School at Totnes about "The Magic Bean" (chocolate). Our Bolham team had been practising their performance since they won our local competition at Dulverton and gave a much improved presentation, so much so that Aimee Langdon carried off the Best Chairperson title for the Juniors.
The judges said how impressed they were with the high standard of speaking and wished that some of the university graduates that they encountered could witness the standard.
In 2005, one Youth Speaks team made it to be interviewed on ITV
