Rotary Community Sunday Lunch

This event takes place in January every year in Bampton's Riverside Hall. Typically a three-course meal is provided for about 140 people, with the aim of not only being a much-appreciated social event, but also in raising money for the SW charity Shelterbox (more information here). All the catering, food preparation, serving, and washing up(!) is done by club members. There is also a bar, and a raffle.

Every year we are amazed by the generosity of those involved - usually over £1500 is raised, enough for almost three Shelterboxes. So far the club has donated funing for over 75 boxes.

This event was started at the initiative of members Edward and Richard, who had the idea following the SE Asian tsunami on Boxing day 2004. The photos below are from that first ever community Sunday lunch in January 2005.

Many thanks to all who give their time, have donated food, wine, and raffle prizes, and those who support this event.
