In May, 2008, the Exmoor club were hosts to a Rotary Group Study Exchange team from Columbia. Whilst they visited us, a team went from Devon to visit Bogota. Shown on the right is Jaime presenting President Richard with a banner from the Rotary Club of Bogota as a memory of their visit. The four others of the team were involved in various forms of artistic occupations, three of them as teachers, and one working for the Columbian Ministry of Culture. Whilst staying in Bampton (11th to 16th May) the team had a very busy time! They visited an English pub to play skittles and 'Aunt Sally (see below), they did presentations to Exmoor Rotary Club and visitors, went to a folk music evening (at another pub!), visited a local theatre in Taunton to have a backstage tour and to see a production of 'Abigail's Party' which they found very funny, had a day at Tiverton club where they visited a local secondary school, came and talked to the Devon Rotary District meeting, as well as various individual trips with their hosts. Exhausting! At a party on their final evening, Natalia persuaded us to learn Columbian dancing (after we'd had several drinks) at which some of us were better than others! |

AUNT SALLY is a strange English pub-game which involves hurling a chunk of wood to try to knock a small white 'Sally' (a doll) off its perch. It is played outside in the lovely weather which the team enjoyed here. Jaime showed off his skill to give the team practice! | ![]() |
